What is Rocket Yoga ?

Rocket Yoga was developed by Larry Schultz, a student of Pattabhi Jois, in San Francisco. It is a style of yoga rooted from the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga practice. The sequences are restructured from the primary, intermediate and advanced series of Ashtanga, combining key postures, inversions and arm balances into the flow. A strong practice that can be adjusted to all levels of practitioners. Modifications can be made for beginners and variations can be made from more advanced practitioners. This welcomes the practice to all types of practitioners, beginner students and advanced alike.

Meet the Teachers :

Tomas Tealdi (‘lead teacher’)

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Tomas Tealdi began his journey of yoga at an early age under the warm guidance of his mother who was also a yoga teacher. Despite growing up in a full yoga environment, his first choice of discipline as a young adult was martial arts. For several years, he immersed himself in Kung Fu, Tai Chi and Chi Kung. During his stay in Thailand, he practised Vipassana meditation that completely shifted his perspectives towards life.

In 2013, still working as a builder, he moved to Spain to work in a construction site. It was when he casually walked into a yoga studio and met Javier Castro, the owner and the principal teacher at Yogashala Institute in Marbella. Motivated by a strong encouragement by his teacher, Tomas continued to practise, and went on to complete 500 hour teacher training.

When Tomas was introduced to ‘The Rocket’, he was immediately hooked by its dynamic style which was aligned with his nature. He attended his first Rocket teacher training by It’s Yoga International. Around the same time, he met Tiago Rocha, a renowned Rocket teacher in Barcelona, who eventually led him to train with David Kyle of Ashtanga Puerto Rico.

Tomas’s dynamic, often humorous teaching style appeals to students of many backgrounds and experiences. He continues to practise and teach Rocket Vinyasa and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga through his classes, workshops, retreats and training. He is a Rocket® Vinyasa Certified Teacher, E-RYT 500 and Continuous Education Provider under Yoga Alliance.

Pipe (‘the prodigy’ assistant teacher)

Widely known by his nickname, Pipe. He is one of the most potential up and coming Rocket teachers in Spain.

Since he was little, he has practised a multitude of sports. He is especially passionate about activities in nature. In 2012, Pipe finished his degree in physical activity and sports sciences, and it was at this time that he had his first contact with Yoga in Granada.

In 2018, he decided to travel to Rishikesh to complete RYS 200h in Hatha and Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. The following year, he learned about Rocket Vinyasa from Tiago Rocha and Tomas Tealdi at the first Yoga Congress in Estepona. Rocket awakened a special interest in Pipe since he can integrate his knowledge about artistic gymnastics, acrobatics and circus arts, having as its base and main axis the philosophy and spiritual aspect of yoga, and making this discipline his lifestyle.

In 2019, Pipe began his Progressive Ashtanga studies with Tiago and David Kyle, and completed level II. He has been participating in 50hr Rocket YTTC in Spain as an assistant over the last few years.

Pipe continues to refine his speciality, handstands with his teacher Desko Amat, as well as dedicating his time to deepen his study and practice of yoga. He currently teaches regular Rocket Vinyasa classes in Malaga.

Celia Corrales (Functional Anatomy teacher)

She graduated in Primary Education, specialising in Physical Education, from the University of Seville. Linked to the world of physical activity and sport since forever, she was a gymnast and later a National Rhythmic Gymnastics Coach, which led her to acquire a level of body awareness that over time has become her passion for movement and knowledge of each ever deeper into the human body.

6 years ago she decided to train as a certified Yoga Teacher E-RYT 200 Hatha Vinyasa approach, since then she has dedicated herself to sharing the experiences that this wonderful personal journey brings her. In continuous training, also in Rocket Vinyasa Yoga (50H YTT) and in Ashtanga Yoga (Physical adjustments and alignment), she seeks in her teachings to feel the movement deeply through breathing, creating a solid and stable base through mobility training , to make any physical practice sustainable over time, promoting healthy habits that promote autonomy and always paying attention to progress and not seeking perfection.

Yuka Takahashi ( ‘the organiser’ and assistant)

Born in Miyagi , Japan. Yuka grew up in a small village surrounded by an abundance of nature. Inspired by her mentor, a wild-eyed university student who taught her not only English but also curious tales of the world, Yuka secretly decided to leave Japan to live the life of her dreams in her teens.

Since the early 90s, London has become a mecca for endless self-discovery. While working at multinational corporations by day, Yuka continued to explore Dance, Meditation and Yoga. Among all, it was Vipassana Meditation, 5 Rhythms, and Yoga practice that transformed her life over the years.

In 2015, Yuka decided to follow her yet another dream to move to Spain. She attended 500hrs teacher training at Yogashala Institute in Marbella, followed by more training with international teachers including David Kyle of Rocket Vinyasa Yoga, Sue Flamm of Restorative Yoga, and John Friend & Desi Springer of Bowspring.

Her authoritative, humorous and inspiring qualities are appreciated from absolute beginners to experienced practitioners alike. Yuka enjoys practising and sharing Ashtanga and Rocket inspired Power Yoga. She is also a keen student of Dhrupad Yoga, an ancient form of Indian Classical Music.
